Healing and Wholeness in Christ

Living from the Finished Work, Not Striving for a Miracle

For a long time, healing was not just a doctrine to me, it was personal. I grew up as a sickly child. I was asthmatic, had eczema, and suffered from countless allergies. What people admire today as my “natural eyeshadow” was once severe seasonal eye swelling. Every morning, during certain times of the year, I would wake up with my eyelids stuck together from excessive discharge.

We went to the best doctors available, but all they could do was manage the symptoms, never truly resolve the problem. Yet today, I live free from all of these ailments.

Some might say, “You simply grew out of it.” But I know that wasn’t the case.

When Healing Was Borrowed Faith

Every time I had an asthma attack, I didn’t use an inhaler or rush to the ER for nebulisation. Instead, I was prayed for, and every single time, I recovered. This happened in accordance with James 5:14–15, which says:

“Is anyone among you sick? Let them call the elders of the church to pray over them… and the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well.”

At that time, my faith was borrowed. It was anchored in the faith of those praying for me, in their relationship with God and their confidence in His Word. My mother often says that I was full of faith because immediately after being prayed for, I would start running around again, even though she could still hear wheezing in my chest.

Even now, when I find myself between a rock and a hard place, I say:

“Lord, the same faith I had as a child when I knew You through stories is the faith I choose to exercise now that I know You personally.”

Living from the Life of Christ in Me

Today, my skin is as healthy as it has ever been. I now confidently try cosmetic products I would have never dreamed of using before. As for allergies, I may sneeze occasionally when directly exposed to dust, which is normal, but I no longer live under their control.

I don’t just believe I was healed, I believe I live in healing.

Romans 8:11 has become deeply personal to me:

“If the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies.”

I consciously acknowledge that the Spirit of God lives in me. I speak to that Spirit, asking Him to move from my spirit into my body, bringing life, healing every part, and expelling anything that does not align with God.

And when I feel weak, tired, or emotionally beaten down, when I feel like my faith isn’t strong enough, I do not condemn myself. I simply reach out to other believers and ask them to lay hands on me, in accordance with scripture.

“These signs will accompany those who believe: In My name they … will place their hands on sick people, and they will get well.” (Mark 16:17–18)

Healing is not always dependent on my level of faith. Even Jesus healed people who openly admitted their unbelief. So if you feel weak, or if you’ve been prayed for before and haven’t yet seen healing, it is not your fault.

Healing Is Finished, Not Pending

This journey has helped me walk alongside others in faith, praying for the sick and seeing results. We expect 100% healing, and while sometimes it manifests instantly, other times it unfolds over time. Occasionally, a battle may be lost, but this never changes the truth of what Christ accomplished at the whipping post.

By whose stripes you were healed.” (1 Peter 2:24)

Healing is not something we beg God for as though it hasn’t been provided. Jesus already paid for it. Our role is not striving, it is believing, receiving, and standing firm.

What Christ did for our physical bodies, He also did for our non-physical elements of who we are. Healing is physical, emotional, and mental. Wholeness in Christ is not the absence of trouble, but the presence of peace, even in it because we are convinced that healing is ours and we will experience it in the physical.

As Scripture says:

“We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed.” (2 Corinthians 4:8–9)

Standing on God’s Word

Healing and wholeness are part of the finished work of Christ. Faith is not striving, it is resting in what Jesus has already accomplished.

Here are a few practical ways I continue to live from that place:

  • Speak God’s Word daily over your body
  • Thank Him for healing even when symptoms remain
  • Surround yourself with faith-filled voices
  • Guard your heart from fear and discouragement
  • Share your testimony, it strengthens others

Healing is not something we chase. It is something we receive.

A Prayer from My Heart

Father, thank You that healing and wholeness are mine through Jesus Christ.
I stand on Your Word and declare that by His stripes, I am healed.
Every part of my body, mind, and spirit aligns with Your truth.
I receive Your peace, strength, and restoration today.
Let my life be a testimony of Your faithfulness and power.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen. ❤️
